Cycling trips

Links below to some very enjoyable cycle trips that I have written up, ranging in length from 37 hours to 2 months. I have been a bit lax on the cycling lately, as I have been concentrating on walking trips (and my list of planned walks is still growing faster than I can actually do them). I still have some good cycle trips in mind, which should hopefully appear on here at some point. Most popular hit, by a long way, is the Lands End to John O'Groats ride, despite the fact that it was over ten years ago, which shows what a popular excursion it is!

Stop Press: 15/10/11 - I have just posted a trip report for a very enjoyable ride along the Danube, from the source at Donaueschingen to Vienna. Highly recommended if you are looking for a leisurely route with great scenery!

  • Iceland. Sep 1996 - Leisurely tour taking in some of Route 1 (Icelands ring road)
  • Lands End to John O'Groats (UK). Aug 1999 - The classic UK end to end ride
  • Brimstone 600k audax (England). May 2000 - Challenging and quite hilly audax in the south of England
  • Hebrides (Scotland). Summer 2001 - Tour of some of the islands
  • Alaska. Aug 2001 - Tour from Anchorage to Skagway
  • Vietnam. Oct 2004 - Tour of the mountainous north of Vietnam, up to the border with China
  • Tibetan Plateau (China). Sep/Oct 2005 - Longer (4400km) tour of the Qinghai, Sichuan, and Gansu provinces of China
  • Danube (Germany/Austria). Sep 2011 - Very popular route along the river Danube
